Information about our computer rooms at Computing Science

The department has its computer rooms on the 1st floor of the MIT building: MA136-MA176 . To be able to use these, you must have a valid UmU-card and be registered for a course in computer science. The following rules apply from the start of the semester and until a new information is given:

  • Information about bookings and available computers can be found on screens in the corridor or via https://support.cs.umu.se/labs/
  • The rooms might be booked for lecturing and then only students on the course concerned may stay in the room.
  • If the room is not booked for lecturing, everyone with access can be there - but observe the maximum number of people allowed in the room as shown on the poster on the door!
    • Avoid sitting in the computer rooms unless you absolutely have to. Partly to reduce the risk of the spread of infection and partly to make room for those who have to sit there.
    • Students who take courses in semester 1 have the highest priority in access to the places.
    • After that, priority is given to students who do not have their own computer.
  • EVERYONE must wash their hands before using the computers in the room. Washing sink with soap or disinfectant dispensers is available inside each computer lab.
  • Keep distances and sit in the marked places (i.e. in front of the computers).
  • Do not block a computer (i.e. if you are sitting there, use the computer).
    • If you are not using the computer, please sit in the corridors or other open student places instead.
